Research Analysis & Marketing Internships - Chronic Illness Advocacy & Awareness Group, Inc.11/12/2020 Chronic Illness Advocacy & Awareness Group, Inc. (CIAAG) is a vital civic action, national, nonprofit organization. CIAAG formed in response to cursory healthcare policy and regulations that were designed to address the opioid crisis but have resulted in the following critical consequences, including: The destruction of our medical free enterprise system by allowing government to intervene and be the sounding authority on pain management; the resulting threat to our medical community’s right to practice without fear of retribution due to unethical regulations based on false data; the devastating complication and sometimes prohibition of access to critical care management, (i.e., improper and often abusive treatment to those in need who have become labeled substance abusers due to policy based on invalid studies and misleading information about prescription opioids and chronic pain; and the growing crisis of suicide in our disabled community as a result of the above.
Our Mission is to educate the public and nation’s legislators on the negative consequences of cursory healthcare policy and regulations regarding the opioid crisis which have created new, urgent crises in our chronically ill and disabled communities as well as our medical community. We advocate for the rights of every American citizen to obtain critical care management provided by evidence-based care and patient-centered research. CIAAG recognizes the necessity to make timely and strategic decisions to maximize efforts and to fulfill our mission utilizing three key strategies. 1) Visibility: To build CIAAG’s voice and visibility through media campaigns, educational events, and networking to influence public policy and decision making on impactful issues. 2) Representation: To mobilize, allocate resources, and obtain regional and state representatives to foster grass-roots actions through attendance and participation in legislative public hearings related to our cause. 3) Leadership: To implement effective, non-profit leadership by promoting equality, inclusion, and multi-generational learning. As well as to provide executive coaching and peer learning opportunities by collaborating with other professional networks and learning institutions. What you will Learn As a Research/Analyst and Marketing Intern working directly with the President & Founder of CIAAG, Lauren Deluca, as well as the Vice-President & Director of Communications to learn how to create formal research from using government databases, formulating this research into formal proposals, collect data and perform statistical analysis, cost/benefit analysis, etc. In addition, they will have the opportunity to help influence social change through the use of social media and the creation of branding, marketing and participating in networking, educational as well as political events. As an Intern for CIAAG you will be able to “shadow” the Executive Team via telephone and electronic communications from your “home” office. You will work closely with the Executive Team and your role may change according to organizational needs as the structure must be fluid to react to legislative changes, political race results and other unforeseen events our team needs to respond to with a proactive and reactive manner to ensure the success of our organizations missions and goals. This internship will provide real life experience with a growing non-profit fighting for progressive legislative changes in an uncertain climate. As an intern you will learn how to lead meetings, develop research, present proposals and negotiate with Elected Officials, key influencers, partners and other stakeholders. Duties
