Hello, SACNAS @ UCLA!
My name is AC Carlton, and I am an Admissions Director for the 2020 Out for Undergrad (O4U) Engineering Conference. Every year, O4U hosts a weekend-long professional development conference for high achieving, high potential LGBTQ+ undergraduate students who are studying engineering or interested in going into engineering. If you're not familiar with Out for Undergrad (O4U) or the O4U Engineering Conference, you can learn more about it on the website here: https://www.outforundergrad.org/. Despite the unprecedented change and immense uncertainty due to COVID-19, O4U remains committed to our mission. At the same time, we recognize the safety and well-being of each and every student remains of utmost importance. As such, O4U has made the difficult decision to host all of our 2020 conferences virtually.
To ensure that we continue to recruit the most diverse and high achieving LGBTQ+ undergraduate student candidates, please help us share our mission and tell your community that the 2020 O4U application remains open. O4U is an amazing opportunity for students to meet recruiters from a variety of engineering firms and universities, receive guidance from amazing mentors, and form meaningful, lasting connections with other LGBTQ+ people in their fields. To keep our conference accessible for all students, we have waived our $90 registration fee for all admitted students, making the conference free to attend for students. We are committed to ensuring all admitted students can attend our programming, especially in our new virtual format.
This year’s O4U Engineering Conference will be held virtually from September 9-13th. The student application deadlines have been extended from our previously announced dates. The final round of our rolling admissions process closes on June 14th, 11:59 PM EST..
Please let your students know about the conference application. Having attended the conference multiple times throughout my undergraduate career, I can attest to the fact that it is an amazing opportunity for both professional and personal development. If you or anyone at your school has any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me or the O4U Engineering Admissions Team at O4UEngineeringAdmissions@outforundergrad.org.
Thank you so much for your time, and have a great day!
