I am writing to let you know that Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai will be hosting a Virtual Biomedical Research Symposium for Underrepresented Scholars. The symposium is open to underrepresented students that are interested in graduate school. I am reaching out regarding an opportunity at Genentech for UCLA undergraduate students of at least junior standing: Every year, Genentech grants the Outstanding Student Award (OSA) to outstanding students at select schools in disciplines related to biotechnology. One winner from each school will be awarded $2,500 and a guaranteed three-month summer internship starting in May/June 2021. The internship is in the Pharmaceutical Technical Development (PTD) organization, which includes a variety of functions such as cell culture, purification, analytics, and pharmaceutical development. Every year, O4U hosts a weekend-long professional development conference for high achieving, high potential LGBTQ+ undergraduate students who are studying engineering or interested in going into engineering. If you're not familiar with Out for Undergrad (O4U) or the O4U Engineering Conference, you can learn more about it on the website here: https://www.outforundergrad.org/. Despite the unprecedented change and immense uncertainty due to COVID-19, O4U remains committed to our mission. At the same time, we recognize the safety and well-being of each and every student remains of utmost importance. As such, O4U has made the difficult decision to host all of our 2020 conferences virtually. To ensure that we continue to recruit the most diverse and high achieving LGBTQ+ undergraduate student candidates, please help us share our mission and tell your community that the 2020 O4U application remains open.
